My Story

I was born in California and raised in Hawaii. My dad was a haole "white foreigner" man in the U.S. Marines, stationed in Hawaii, which is where he met my Hawaiian mother. Yep! That makes me a Hapa girl, half Hawaiian and half haole. Unfortunately my parents divorced before I was one. My mother Hannah moved us back to Hawaii where we were raised on the island of Kauai.

I got married in 1986 to Benny Lagmay, who is half Hawaiian and half Filipino. We had 5 boys and 1 girl. Then in 1996 we moved our ohana "family" to Washington to be near my dad, my children's grandpa. While living in Washington my husband Benny got sick and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2001, meaning he would at some point need a heart transplant. His heart was 70% larger then a normal heart. Long story short, after a couple open heart surgeries and other medical procedures he was put on the transplant list and in 2010 he received a heart transplant.

During the past 10 years we lost our restaurant and our house. We even lost medical insurance for a short period of time. Our medical bills were hundreds of thousands of dollars and I had no idea how we would ever pay. But by the grace of Akua "God" we have no medical bills today. And by the grace of Akua my husband Benny is still here with us.

About a year after Benny's transplant we felt it was time to come home. He had promised me only 5 years in Washington and we were there for 16 years. But it was time because mom's health had been declining so we needed to be home for her. We decided to move back and in December 2020 we moved in with her.

In September 2021 God gave me the vision for these shirts! Half Hawaiian and half English Biblical truths to share the gospel! And this is how Hapa Kine Tracts began. The first design God revealed to me was, God is Mayjah! Because without Him we are nothing and we have nothing! He makes all things possible. Mark 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
